Probably the best way to increase its value is to learn how to use it in one of those three cup tricks and get people to bet on where the coin is...

If it is the one made to look like a football stick it on ebay - with the World Cup coming up you'll get more than £2 for it.

Go on, enjoy watching a cashier's expression as you hand them the paperwork & the coin. OK, you do already need a £1 starter to open the account (and the patience of Job if they don't already know you…) but after that, it need only be a single penny & they cannot tell to take your investment elsewhere.
The £2 coin is alive & well & most I see get documented on the £2 savers challenge thread - that the Mint have stopped pressing them explains some of my struggles.0 -
I have a money box that I only put £2 coins in, when it's full there is around £1k in there. This is my second time of doing this, but probably my last as they are hard to come by.
I think I'm probably between £50-100 away from being able to smash this one open

Has everyone forgotten about the original single colour (brass) £2 coin? I suspect that while it's no longer legal tender, it could probably be listed on eBay for at least the old face value…

Self service machines at supermarkets are a good way to get rid of loose change at zero handling cost.
Need to check you can actually pay in cash before you start and don't throw coins in too fast. Also try and pick a quieter time so as not to cause chaos.

No, that's what I was referring to when I mentioned I'd expect banks to still accept the non-bimetal version. It was gold coloured, same as the then £1 coin.

We have a very helpful local post office that are happy to take lots of coins. We pre arrange a usually quiet time to go in.
Last time I deposited £420 of 20p coins
Metro banks also have fee free machines, though my Husband would want a cut as it's his account there

Well, 5p is a start I suppose. If you could regularly find additional10p per week and find a bank that would accept this arrangement, then, at 4%p.a. after 25years you would have amassed £223.38 in total.
