Bristol Airport Charge Notice

The owner of the vehicle was issued a Charge Notice for 46) Stopping in a Zone Area where stopping is Prohibited. Images below.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of a decent postal service the notice arrived after the 14 days to pay the reduced charge.

Is there a way of disputing this charge altogether? Appreciate that there is only a few days left before the actual 28 days is up and so time is of the essence.

Apparently the driver was dropping a passenger at the free parking area and went past it as it was early morning and in dim light. The driver apparently went to reverse but when doing so the passeneger jumped out and stated that they would walk from there, an action that took around 10 seconds. The driver apparently can't recall where on the airport grounds this was.

It seems a bit stretched to be stung for £100 at that time of day when no other traffic is about and the car wasn't parked, although it is for stopping and not parking that the notice is sent.

In the images there doesn't appear to be any red double lines and it may well be the entrance to the free car park that was overshot and where the driver braked ready to reverse, and whilst doing so the passenger jumped out.

Due to the limited time before the end of the 28 days does anyone have any idea what the best course of action is?

Pay up and avoid the aggro or appeal?

Any help gratefully received!

Its been going on for over a decade, always the same camera car trap, always the same indignation, but everything that could possibly work has already been tried numerous times

No appeal will work in these cases, so its your choice on what to do, or not do

I suggest that you study some of the VCS sagas of a similar nature overthe last few years and see what happened to those cases

They all try this trick (posting NTKs second class and/or late) but you already know from the first FAQS in the NEWBIES thread that the 14 days bribe doesn't matter.

Obviously, missing the bribe is irrelevant because nobody pays the likes of VCS all the time this rogue sector remains unregulated.

But looking at the photos, I'm not convinced there are any double red lines adjacent to the vehicle. That can be worth appealing and could even win at the kangaroo court of the joke 'IAS' but nobody here cares if it doesn't!

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I was not the driver and so unable to clarify where this is at the airport. It may well be the entrance to the free parking area but am not certain. Note: Now clarified that it is the main entrance to the free waiting zone near to Silver Parking.

I believe there were double yellows either side of this entrance, not red.

As Airport land is not relevant land under POFA2012, as a non driving keeper you have no liability

So appeal on that basis, no blabbing about who was driving or about what happened

    Many thanks for the advice…

I will have a think today and decide where to go with this later.

It's more the sense of unfairness than the money that's pushing this.

The fact that the driver was checking that they were in the correct place for the free waiting area and just about to turn in there, but before being able to do so the impetous actions of the young passenger to jump out of the car in that few seconds has then caused a payment of £100 to be triggered, suggests that the 'punishment certainly doesn't fit the crime'.

Its an unregulated industry and been unfair for over 15 years, so dont be on a one person crusade, just fight your own corner for now, because regulation should appear by or in 2027, 8 years late, with people like coupon mad helping to steer it

Just remember that although you may be new to the party, some people have been fighting them for a decade or more , and there are tens of thousands of these airport cases on here, especially Bristol and Liverpool cases

Perhaps study the cases and posts by member. @Fruitcake

As time is running out, is there anywhere an updated 'map' is available showing where the airport gives the authority for the company to act? The one I found was a contract from 2019 and the area that the charge was issued for doesn't appear to be on it.

I believe @Fruitcake was the person who had the original link?

Paid the fine in the end… too much hassle otherwise, but not happy with he injustice.
