Tesco grocery spend = £45.81 ….. this includes £8.30 for Greggs steak bakes and sausage rolls. £3.30 for 2 packs of sandwich meat…. these items were not included in my meal plans for the coming week, but just to ‘stock up’…..thought provoking as per previous posts.
Total for this week £106.17 / £90 slightly over budget there …😳 although I can see where the errors/overspends occurred, why and what I can do going forward. ( slaps wrists)…..I did use cheddar to buy a gift card to pay for my Tesco shop so made £3.50 😬
Still have a small amount of cash in my purse which I’ll use to pay for my eggs on Tuesday and any bread, but I think I have enough to see me through until next week.
Grocery Spends £90-£100 per week …. Payday each Friday8 -
So DH spent £39.65 yesterday and partly that was going off piste with the list I gave him and buying extra snacks but I did know that was likely to happen. We're nearly two thirds of the way through the budget at nearly half way through the month so the second half will have to be more sensible.

One of the Community Fridges which I visit occasionally had a random extra pop-up this morning, and I picked up large salad tomatoes, garlic and shallots (which I will turn into portions of pasta sauce for the freezer), pak choi, green beans and portobello mushrooms. They didn’t want any donations either! Using existing stuff I’ve now got all the ingredients to make a chicken and prawn Pad Thai, a chicken and prawn stir fry, and roasted mushrooms stuffed with leek, garlic, wholemeal breadcrumbs, grated cheese and mozzarella. Yesterday I used some Community Fridge items to make a cauliflower/broccoli/leek/potato and ham in cheese sauce bake which I was going to have for dinner tonight, but I’ll probably shoehorn that into the freezer for another time and have the stir fry tonight.
No more spends since Wednesday, I’m pleased with how I’m doing.

Dashing in to record this week's spend of £75.51, just between the butcher, the supermarket & the greengrocer; I was down in a Bronze Age ditch on Friday so couldn't get to the market. This will result in a top-up spend early next week to make up a shortfall in the fruit & veg supplies, but it's not looking too bad - yet!

If you bake, you can put it in cakes or make Moroccan Baghrir (sp)? - these are little American style pancakes
I love semolina 🥰

Semolina is also the coarse durum wheat from which most store-bought pasta is made (mixed with water it is excellent for a firm, chewy pasta base that is better for making shapes. If you have a grinder or blender that chops, to make it into a finer flour, you can just add egg yolk and a little salt to make more tender fresh pasta like tagliatelle. Being fresh (you do not need to dry it for days), it cooks in 2-3 minutes
