@Blackcats - I can remember when post-LBM, I realised that budgeting facilitates things, just as you've described, rather than blocking out all fun forever.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
So it's time for an end of month summary - "August has been spendy" sums up the month perfectly 🙃
However, 3 of the big treats we paid for on behalf of our family have been thoroughly enjoyed.
Soffits and fascia's replaced/repaired which was a necessary but unexciting way to spend money
We've had a couple of 2 night breaks which connected us with wider family and were great fun.
The wrangling with "that" family overseas has been paused whilst the professionals we need have been on holiday. The professionals in question are not Bodie & Doyle but I think their approach would sort things out.
Money is in the right place for bill paying and savings pots topped up. We will have a spend at an event tomorrow and then I'll know what our final underspend from "personal spends and fun" is. I'm hoping it will be a good amount. Grocery underspend was £37.00. £7 went to "wealth habit" and £30 to a holiday pot.
I'm doing my final pixie dust spend this evening and so tomorrow I'll share how the pixie dust was sprinkled in August.
