1pMobile boosts

Could someone on 1pMobile check the boosts available?

I usually buy a 4Gb data-only boost for £5

But now I see there's a 5Gb +Unlimited calls+texts also for £5

Am I reading that right?

Yes, you are reading it right. It lasts for 30 days and includes EU roaming. I'm currently on 6Gb for £6 per month but that offer isn't currently available to new customers.

I am thinking of moving from EE to 1p but to me the boost system seems unnecessarily complicated. If, for instance, I apply for the 5GB for £5 do I set up a payment card so it rolls over every month or do I have to renew it each 30 days? What if one month I need more than 5GB? Perhaps I am just looking for complications where there are none!

You set up a recurring boost, which automatically tops up your account every month. While you can change the boost each month, for example if you are going to be using more mobile data while away on holiday, it is not as easy to change as with GiffGaff. 1p currently do not have an app…

The good news is 1p have more roaming data (14 GB) than GG (5 GB) and include the Channel Is/Isle of Man, where GiffGaff sting you for data. 1p also have 2 factor authentication on your account with a number sent to your email before you can log-on.

    They don't for me.

    I think you might be.

I've asked them a similar question before (is it one or the other with calls & data boosts or data only boosts or can I have one of both at the same time) and they said yes to the latter (trying to find where they told me but naturally can't, thought it was via email or their AI, but I fear it might have been on chat when they had it which is 'helpful' but there we go).

Anyway, meaning, going by your query, you'd have to set up a payment card (so you can pay them) then you could have the 5GB with calls and texts for £5 boost which would roll over monthly if you wanted it to, then if your data needs increase temporarily you can add a data boost too which would roll over monthly if you wanted it to too. If you don't want either to roll over monthly you can turn whichever one off easily enough in your online settings and the one you turn off rolling/recurring on will last until expiry.

Easier to do than to explain but think the above covers it.

I have 2FA on my 1pMobile login as well.

You do have to switch it on - it's off by default.

Ah thanks. I had actually searched for a switch prior to posting but hadn't found it. But I can see it now.

I too have the thing turned on where they text me a code before I can log in to their website. My hope is that this will stop me being the victim of SIM swap fraud and I'm hoping that they'd be less likely to allow my account to go to a criminal who was posing as me as they'd insist on being provided with the code. I'm not 100% convinced though.
