POP Telecom Nightmare

I bought my POP Telecom broadband package over the phone. I was offered a 24-month contract at a fixed price. I asked twice for confirmation that this price would not change and was told both times that it would not.

All went well for a month or two, but then the price went up. I queried this and was told it was because I had to pay ‘assurances’. I pointed out that I had been reassured that the price would not increase. After a month and a dozen emails, they finally agreed to remove the ‘assurances’ and refund me.

Fast forward another few months and the price went up again. This time they said it was due to scheduled price rises. I again pointed out that I had been told at point of sale that the price would not increase over the 24 months.

I was then curtly directed to the small print of the original contract. When I told them that I wanted to walk away from the contract since it had evidently been miss-sold to me, they threatened me with the debt collectors.

I would advise anybody considering dealing with POP Telecom: DON’T RISK IT! I have found POP Telecom to be totally unreliable, heavy handed and rude. Somebody else might conclude that they were dishonest.

I was a POP customer once last decade; I don't recall having any particular problems, but I'm also not planning to go back to them!
