Another ISA transfer another bank makes a mistake
For the third year in a row my ISA transfer has gone wrong. I went into branch to do it and they still couldn't get it right. I've complained but their solution was for me to have 2 ISA's. I don't want 2 ISA's. Why do they make it so hard that even their own staff can't correctly open an ISA. I only want what I would have gotten had they opened and transferred in from my previous provider correctly and on time. If I escalate it to the Ombudsman do they have the power to force my bank to give me what I will miss out on?

3 years in a row and something has gone wrong? Either you have been extremely unlucky or there is some element of user error/misunderstanding.
What is it exactly that you are 'missing out on'?

Without you supplying more details of what happened, it is unlikely you will get any sensible reply.

The three banks opened my ISA without the ability to add my TF allowance. Even though I go into branch & sit with an advisor who fills in the forms they still get it wrong.

this years allowance taken from an account earning interest then sitting in zero interest accounts while they try and sort out transfer.

all i need to know is how much power does the ombudsman have? Can they force my bank to give me what I would have gotten had they succesfullly opened and done my transfer on time?

You can go to the ombudsman after your formal complaint with the bank has not been resolved to your satisfaction within 8 weeks. What the ombudsman decides depends on the facts that you and the bank provide.

Possibly, but we only have your version of events. I find it difficult to understand why it has gone wrong 3 years in a row - you give your old account details to the new provider and the transfer is initiated. This assumes there are no issues such as initiating the transfer before the previous one has fully matured. There are time limits on which a transfer has happened and mine have always happened within a couple of days.

My bank wants to open another ISA because they made a mistake with the first application. The rate has changed. I would have 2 ISA both different rates. I want 1 ISA with the rate I applied for. Can the Ombudsman tell my bank to give me 1 ISA with the rate that I applied originally?

i find it difficult to fathom however three years three different banks all opened ISA that did not allow me to add my TF allowance in to it. I go into branch and sit with them while they fill out the forms. I tell them I want to transfer in and add my new allowance. They can't do this simple task.

I dodged the HSBC rodeo this year. I am now in the Halifax Rodeo (not even a confirmation i have requested to transfer has been received).
ISA transfers needs to be more simplified for sure. Roll number/ NI number / Account number - why cant they all just use the same thing or be as easy as the current account switch service?!
