Money Moral Dilemma: Should I insist my friend pays me back, even though they’re struggling?

Never lend money to friends or family with the expectation of getting the money back, if you do get it back it's a bonus.
With regard to the child maintenance aspect it may be that the child's father is unemployed or might be like my friend's ex-partner who did his utmost to make sure he didn't pay a penny for his daughter despite being taken to court numerous times.

Thats one hell of an APR on the "loan"
Borrow 4k - pay back 32k
£90 a week pays off in less than a year by my reckoning

You need to check your Maths
£90 x 52 = £4680 x 7 = £32, 760
