DCBL parking fine
Hi. Today I received a letter from DCBL, they claim I was parked in wickes on 03/03/26, that they previously wrote to me at a different address, but did not receive a response, so have traced my current address, and are now demanding I pay £170 charge.
For one, I do not ever recall being at wickes on that date (though it’s possible I may have parked there late evening whilst having a coffee at McDonald’s, I really don’t remember and it would’ve been only half an hour if I did). What should I do please can anyone advise? I’m in Scotland. Thanks.
Edit. I went to the store where this charge applied. The manager told me they have cameras at their entrance that monitor incoming/outgoing vehicles (max stay 90 minutes, with no parking between 2100-0500). I did use the car park at night, but would’ve came in at the rear of the their warehouse (this backs onto Macdonald’s and there are gates across the rear car park, but they are never closed, this seems like entrapment to me and why don’t they close them after hours then?). This just feels a big con to entrap people then send them fines, plus as I didn’t receive the original notice (they say they sent to my old address) how can they then put a surcharge on to put fine up to £170?). My car has been registered at my current address for two years and they’re saying the charge is from two months ago! Effin crooks!

Ignore them, especially because you are in Scotland

Presumably they have written to you as the keepr of the vehicle.
Put the letter in a drawer, you can add the others they might send.
Do not communicate with them at all.

We don't need to see that letter again on threads. It's already in the images in post 4 of the NEWBIES thread, which is self explanatory and no advice needs adding.
🙂
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I appreciate there is a newbie section and I have went over it quite thoroughly. It states to always send the template letter, but I’m unsure if I should do this, due to a few others comments saying to ignore the demand notice, just wondering what to do for the best.

The newbies tells people to not ignore an LBC, and definitely not ignore a court claim
On the other hand, post 4 says ignore the powerless debt collectors letters, and calls and texts too

Did you miss the advice about Scotland being different?

As its Scotland, then follow the advice for Scotland too, first, before anything else

if you’re referring to this comment in newbies,
“
Q-''I'm inScotland/NI,so is the advice different?''YES. IF THE EVENT TOOK PLACE INSCOTLAND OR NORTHERN IRELAND, WE SUGGEST YOU DO (ALWAYS!) COMPLAIN TO STORE MANAGEMENT IF YOUR PCN IS FROM A RETAIL PARK, AND SEND THE USUAL TEMPLATE APPEAL FOR YOUR CASE, NOT SAYING WHO WAS DRIVING. HOWEVER, DO NOT TRY POPLA BECAUSE POPLA (IN A CASE THAT TOOK PLACE OUTSIDE ENGLAND/WALE) WILL REQUIRE YOU TO STATE IF YOU WERE DRIVING OR NOT, AND THAT IS THE ONE THING NOT TO DISCLOSE.”yes I did read it, but what I’m asking (based on others previous responses to my post) is, do I need to write a letter of complaint or not, or just ignore the above letter I received? It’s a bit unclear.

See my response to James poison please.

By all means complain about it to the landowner or landlord or business or management company, plan A in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum
I always recommend plan A, regardless, its never too late to complain about a pcn
Ignore any powerless debt collectors letters from companies like DCBL, DRPL, etc
So definitely Ignore DCBL
