My mother passed away in May this year, took 3wks to get the death certificate, then another 3wks before the bank sent the letter with the amount held in her bank account on the day of her death. I filled in the IHT400 form and all the other relevent forms as I was applying for RNRB from when my father passed away 26yrs ago so it seemed to be a lot of paperwork, although the estate itself was fairly simple with it just being money in a bank account and a property. I sent the forms to HMRC and I got the code from then to submit the probate application 14 working days later. Applied for Probate last Wednesday and just had an email today to say it's been granted, so for us it's been 6 days which I think is pretty fast.
