Travel insurance
We booked non-refundable flights and non-refundable accommodation both directly with airline and hotel to the UAE to travel in July 2026. We also purchased travel insurance. However with the recent events in Iran and the UK governments advice on essential travel only we are left in a difficult situation. The Hotel have told us we are not entitled to a refund or to rearrange our accommodation. The airline haven’t published their guidelines for flights in July, but also said it’s unlikely our flight will be cancelled. Our travel insurance have said we are not covered to travel against the government recommendations but also we are not covered against acts of war (despite it not explicitly stating this in the wording of the document of the travel insurance) and therefore they will not cover us against the money we have spent on flights or accommodation. Does anyone have any suggestions about what we can do. Thanks

Well first of all its not July for at least six weeks, the current government advice is a) relevant to today, and b) is just that, advice.
