Seems like you have been doing a lot of thinking recently - and from what I read, it does look as though you are thinking positively and sensibly. Of course that doesn't take away the crappiness of some things, but if you can look at them in a more practical and rational way as much as you can, then the really bad days will be easier to deal with.

Good luck with your trip off to Nottingham today - I hope it doesn't go too badly, poor DD! And you have quite a bit to cope with yourself  I think its really sensible to acknowledge on a deep level what you *can't* affect - gives you much more power where you *can* affect things.

  • Hugs Surfbabe and well doing for accepting the things you can't change :A

I am sure now that your DD has told you her feelings you will be able to sort out a plan between you. It is so hard for them having to make decisions that affect the rest of their lives without having the experience to work out what they want to do (after all I still don't know what I want to do at 51:o) my son has changed his university course this year and seems a lot happier. Hope you have a good day.

Right - well 5 hours in the car when you are already tired is not good - add in travelling the A14 in the dark and rain (which is a rubbish road at the best of times) and DH and I were shattered when we got home.

DD was really pleased to see us, we had a chat, took her out to lunch and then food shopping, all the while keeping it relatively low key so that she could just talk as she wanted without us pushing it.

She now has Memory Girls Student Survival Book which I hope will help her plan what she wants to do. Looked at several bits of it with her and roughed out a basic map.

She has a list of things she needs to do - she is totally shattered and has said that no matter how long she sleeps for she is still so tired when she wakes up - so she needs to go to the doctors to talk to them.

She is too late in the year to change her course for this year - as she is already nearly a third of the way through her 2nd year.

Anyway she has list of people she needs to go and see including her tutors who have not been very helpful so far - I've told her to go and camp out by their office if they won't see her. They've been told they have tutorial time to see them but when that is cancelled and not rescheduled or the tutor spends the whole time with a certain group of students that is deterimental to the others in the group (IYSWIM)

So we can only wait and see what happens.

Well, you have done what you can do for now - and she knows that you are supportive of her, which is invaluable.

Take care of yourself - it is draining even without the additional driving etc x

Dont think we ever stop worrying about our kids.
Hope it sorts itself out as DD would wish.

You're not kidding there. When I was in that neck of the woods, *every* day it was closed because someone couldn't drive...

Make sure she's checked for anaemia. It's quite common in her situation.
