Well its a week since I last posted and its payday today, so hopefully by tomorrow I'll have sorted accounts out and been able to throw some more money off Woolwich loan. Should be able to book flights to USA after 3rd February and need to decide whether to apply for new credit card with 0% rate and put them on there or add them to the Woolwich loan.

DS is moving into new room tomorrow

Can't believe it we actually had £150 OVER before our new pay went into the accounts. That has been thrown Woolwich direction so will show when I get next statement and update signature. :j

Have applied of 0% credit card to purchase flights to USA - just waiting for paperwork to come - its all approved though.

DS settled really well in new flat - has been out with flatmates which never happened before so pleased about that.:)

DD has managed to spill black water all over her study floor.  Yes she is lucky enough to have a room to call her study as she is doing A level art and needs somewhere to have a full size easel etc. Canvasses are stacked all over the place. Hopefully the black will come out, although the carpets are - wait for it 31 years old, so don;t owe us anything.

Have managed to keep shopping to £160 for month on Friday - I have to buy fruit and veg, especailly salad stuff but have just put bread maker on for sundried tomato bread. :T :T so all in all a good start. Have also managed to keep within Moozies wekly challenge so Spot the pig is filling up nicely on the amount left over each Friday.

I've even managed to lose 9lbs - only another 14lb to go - deadline is July when DH and I are having a bash for our 50th birthdays (they aren;t till Sept / Oct - but DS will be over from USA in July and we didn;t want her and her family to miss out)

Well need to get ready to go teaching - so BFN :rotfl: :hello:

Well done on what you've achieved so far and isn't it nice to have money left at the end of the month?

Well I've updated my signature as after 4 weeks I have lost 10lbs and 9 inches off of various parts of my body - so 13lbs to go.

Discovered that I had mucked up accounts when statement came and we didn;t have £150 left after all !!!! Actually were £50 the other way but by then it was too late and the £150 had gone flying to the Woolwich - oh well that will teach me not to make payments and forget to record them. We aren;t actually overdrawn as there is a £100 float in the account for when I mess up (although this is the first time thats happened !)

Just have to be careful this month although have a respite from council tax of £150   per month and water rates of £50 so will quickly recoup the above mess up.

Have manged Pilates and Aquarobics this week so far and will be going to Aqua again tomorrow night.

Well thats it for today - off to work now, then teaching later followed by Explorer Scouts and Salsa Dancing !!!! :rotfl:
• sorry to hijack your thread, but i would be grateful for some advice that i think relates to this thread also.

my bpyfriend recently transferred his mortgage as his fixed term was up. his financial advisor found him one with the woolich, and he took that.

the next week a letter came through the post from barclays with a visa debit card and then a pin and a cheque book. he quickly read the lettter and apparently it said something about if you have a mortgage with the woolich, you have to have a bank account with barclays.

he is amazingly good with money, doesnt use his credit card or overdeaft or anything, so just shredded the letters and cut up and binned the card.

would this have been the recerve thing that was mentioned in this post, obviously he'll never use it, i'm just a bit worried now that this account is open in his name and he has no idea what it actually is?

he wont be happy if it is available credit!!
thanks for reading this!

Hi Becky

Not sure to be quite honest. We took our mortgage out before Woolwich was owned by Barclays. It sounds as if it could be the reserve account that he received the chqbk and card for so good thing he cut them up !!! Best thing he can do is check with Barclays, although when he gets his mortgage statement each month it should show the main mortgage and reserve loan (well ours does anyway).

Well its now the 4th Feb and yipee we break up from school on Friday for a week. Usually i go out to see my sister in USA for this half-term but I'm not this year 'cos of all going at Christmas so will seem rather strane being here for the first time in 3 years! Have still got to teach swimming as lessons don;t stop for half-term but at least I get a lie-in in the mornings.:j

DS is back at Uni again - he came home Thursday night, took his NPLQ Friday night and went back to Swansea on Saturday. Luckily he passed so has a qualification for another 2 years. Phone call from him yesterday as he was feeling really grotty (and sounded it) sore throat, headache, temperature - not a lot you can do from 300 miles away !!!

DD is working exceptionally hard for AS levels - the Art work is stunning but relentless in time it takes to get it done. We have to start looking at Uni's for her soon.

Have been very good budget wise - underspent on Moozies weekly challenge every week so far, so left overs have gone in Spot the Pig. Trying to keep any groceries to a minimum as mucked accounts up (see above). But did spend £45 on 18 new storage jars - so spent Saturday sorting cupboards out and storing stuff properly and consequently have loads of stuff that I didn;t realise I had 'cos it had been stuck in the back of cupboards!!!! :rotfl:

Anyway, hopefuly will get new cc this week to get plane tickets with and need to open new savings account to save to pay back. Must do it through Quidco as well :T

Anyway I'm going to make sandwiches for DD lunch so will post again soon.

Hi Surfbabe,

thanks for the update

Still not touched our reserve account and the available amount is growing every so often! Now I can see it when I do the online banking....it's evil!

I suppose I should be thankful that it doesn't represent the actual amount of equity in the house or I'd not be living off war-time rations now!
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Glad you haven;t touched yours - wish we never had touched our reserve but we did - mind you its a good job it doesn't reflect the equity else it would have a limit of about £250K
