Car insurance for a learner

No NCD proof with Marmalade, but when my daughter passed her test she was added to my wife's policy as a named driver. When daughter then bought a car and needed insurance this period of being a named driver with no claims or points was asked about and it was reflected in the premium paid.

That's not sometjhing we'd entertain, neither of our cars are what I'd want a learner driving and even adding our elder daughter with a few years of experience is too expensive.

She'll be getting her own car from scratch, insured in her own name as the main driver but with us as named drivers.

It's feasible, her first test is end October - so if she fails it could easily be this time next year before she gets another go

I thought people were just reselling slots these days? I know there is talk of banning such activity but in a weak way. In principle if it were stopped it would help with those not wanting to be scalped with inflated resale market

When you book it, your licence number is linked to the booking.

According to Gemini the two options are a swap… you book a far distant one and then swap it with the scalpers one thats much closer, secondly third parties could book placeholders so combined with bots looking for cancellations etc they could hover up the slots and resell them at a profit

The rules have changed now, only the learner themselves can book the test, rules for switching are much tighter
