RBS rewards not paid in full
Hello Forum , RBS rewards send my spouse and I ( joint credit card account) different rewards via app ,for example Morrisons 10% to me, but 7% to spouse on groceries. If we shop and use my card at the checkout , we assume I get my reward, 10%, having made sure no groceries are excluded. When checked on app, RBS only reward 7% of spend . Spouse is main account holder and receives the rewards , I think there is a misrepresentation of offers somewhere here . Why send me a better offer which is not honoured ?
I tried FAQ on RBS rewards , 700 or so to wade through…

There is no such thing as a joint credit card in the UK. An additional cardholder maybe but not a joint account. Would have thought any rewards would be based on the actual cardholders offer. Who is the main cardholder?

No such thing as a joint credit card account, do you mean that you have an additional/supplementary credit card on your spouse's Reward CC account?
Sounds like the Reward current account is a sole account in your spouse's name?
On the face of it, if you are offered a cashback deal for using a specific card and meet all the conditions then I agree, you are being short-changed.

I don't think they are being short changed. My reading of the situation is that both have Lloyds accounts, one is being offered 10%, the other 7%, the one being offered 10% has assumed that using the additional credit card from the account holderbeing offered 7% would mean they get 10%. The one being offered 10% hasn't actually spent anything in their own right.

Maybe that's how it works at Lloyds, OP is using RBS…
If I get a personalised email, or a notification in an app that I am signed into, giving me 10% cashback at Morrisons for using my Rewards card, am I not entitled to assume that's what I'll get?

I meant to say RBS, sorry.
I would say you would be wrong to assume if you spent money as an additional cardholder on someone else's CC that you would be entitled to your personalised offer as no money has been spent from your account. It has been spent by the main cardholder who, in this instance, only qualifies for 7%

Thank you all for the comments, yes I am the additional card holder. The current account is in both names. On the Rewards app, I am offered 10 % , main card holder is offered 7%, which they receive after the spend. Why offer me anything at all, at least it should be the same offer ?
I suspect the rewards team, if contacted ,will simply blame the supermarket.

So to be clear, you put the spend on your partner's credit card as an additional card holder thinking you would get your 10%? If so, and as explained that is technically your partners spend and only their 7% reward would be due. It's irrelevant if the current account is in joint names if the spending is on a credit card.
Possibly if you spent using your current account debit card you would have got 10%

Can only speak from experience about Amex - my partner and I have supplementary cards for each other's accounts, one charge, one credit card. Offers for each are individualised and are always paid as described.
As for OP's situation, think they are going to have to ask the question of RBS.

Think Amex are fairly unique in that the statement shows who spent what.

Wonder what the cashback given would have been if the OP had used their DEBIT card for the spend?
[in case anyone is unaware, RBS/Natwest Reward accounts can link spend on both your debit and credit card to the account]
