Anxiety about long drive

When I am on my way home from somewhere I just like to get home if that makes sense so the thought of being stuck in traffic etc makes me anxious. My son is 2.

Dont forget to sort your parking before you go, Wembley is not easy to park, we generally park up elsewhere and tube it to Wembley.

That's already sorted, I have paid to park at someone's drive about a 15 minute walk away from the stadium.

Hopefully someone is looking after him while you're away...

But as your son will most likely be asleep whether you get home at 10:30pm or 2:30 am it’s not going make any difference is it?
You seem to be coming up with a variety of different reasons around your anxiety - is anxiety an issue in another parts of your life or a one off?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Personally I think it might be better if you consider public transport, noting cost etc. alternatively how would you feel about staying in a hotel and driving back the next day? (Appreciate that may not be practical with the 2yr old)

I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder a few years back, now controlled. Suggestions about how to avoid confronting it are well meaning but not best practice. Drive there, enjoy, the day, drive back, and learn from the experience.

Totally agree, I've gone down that route of avoiding driving, not a good path.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
Driving on major roads between 8pm and 6am can be tedious as that is when temporary closures take place for road works.
We have had numerous diversions when travelling to/from airports and it can be stressful when going to catch a plane, not an issue returning home though.
Your friend in these matters is a satnav app on your phone, especially one that links to your car screen in modern cars. My favourite is Waze, which is free and part of Google. It can be a pain when it picks an obscure route through back streets to save a couple of minutes, but it (or any satnav) will get you to your destination in case of diversions. Waze (or Google Maps) can help by showing roadworks and congestion before setting off and will give a choice of routes with journey times.
Having a satnav running takes a lot of stress out of driving, especially one with updates in real time.
