'Guarantee' placed on glasses

Using own frames (2nd hand) means there is greater chance of them breaking. As such this means that they are no longer available to be replaced like for like.
So the ins is to cover the cost of any replacement. Many opticians actually state that using your old frames is at your own risk, & if they do break it is up to you to pay for some new frames. Not forgetting that the lenses have already been cut to the shape of frames. So they also need replacing.
So your optician has offered you the chance to cover any breakage.

Depends on the opticians, but the OP seems to be resistant to naming them.

………..….Yes

I've cancelled the order and got my money back - lesson learnt.
Any recommendations where I get new lenses? 😂

I did ask and response was: to warranty the work incase they damaged frames when fitting lenses (so I'm paying an insurance for the opticians 😡 ) and that wasn't explained to me before I paid and the charge for shaping lenses to fit - perfectly acceptable but weird if I'm paying £399 for professional services.

This optician didn't state anything - I think this particular business needs to be more transparent about what they're charging

I'm curious…
On what basis did you cancel the contract?
Do Leightons allow you to cancel for a full refund after they've supplied the specs even if there is nothing wrong with them?

I ordered lenses yesterday so nothing had been made yet.
I asked to cancel and they said yes as I'd asked questions about the break down on receipt.
Can't answer your query sorry

I would have expected it to have been mentioned.
Also it should have been queried prior to paying.

Then their "Own Frame Guarantee" is free, the £54 is the reglazing cost.
