The phone arrived yesterday and so far he has been playing with it until I go over and transfer his data/contacts etc from the phone I lent him.

Would not that transfer be an excellent test of the (not exactly cheap) support?

    Perhaps with your oversight?

That is what I have in mind. He has been reading the manual on how to do the transfer but still prefers to do it with me there. Those of us who have probably done this transfer several times may forget the first time can be a bit daunting. I can't visit for a few days so I am sort of hoping he might actually get impatient & decide to get on with it, but this is a whole new world for him at the mo. I will have him phone the helpline when I am there if he gets stuck on anything & I have a feeling he will get good value out of it for a while, judging by the hours spent phoning me recently for what you & I would find the most basic of issues. I have had the patience of a saint!

And it seems my cousin has just rung the helpline (rather than me) as he had not totally understood that he will be able to move his SIM card to the new phone without a PAC code. They were very reassuring & as he described "spoke English". It appears that a SIM card comes with the phone, but it is not activated unless you set up a PAYG bundle with EE. Understandably slightly confusing for someone new to all this, as when I set him up on my old android as a "test drive" I put a new Lebara card in and did not move the card from his dumb phone - just got a PAC to transfer the number. Looks like we're getting there!
