And you seem to be missing the point that when the Financial Institutions get round to reporting your interest they will give HMRC the very details you are reluctant to give them, i.e. interest paid and account details.
So if you want to wait several more months before you get your repayment then carry on with your futile crusade.

You think they would need YOU to provide the sort code and account number to go down this route?
And this would clearly only happen as part of enforcement proceedings. If the OP is planning to pay his tax due I fail to see the issue.
