Financial mis-selling complaint- HD Law

Hello all,

I am a bit concerned. I clicked through on a link that came through one of one of my newsletters to register to see if I was eligible for the financial mis-selling complaints. Initially it went through make a pcp claim, I just wanted to check eligibility and put in vehicle details. Then I am being contacted a few days later by HD Law to say they are assessing my claim.

I have read a few things online to make me feel a bit concerned about the situation. I only wanted to check if I was eligible but stupidly didn't read the terms enough and I didn't know that I was signing up to something. The email from them reads like it has been AI generated and a bit scam-ish, saying that they are in the process of preparing my complaint.

I have replied to ask them to withdraw the complaint- however will I be liable for charges? That is what I read elsewhere.

Does anyone else have experience with this? Is there any general advice about this? What happens if they go ahead with the complaint?

Thanks all.

An update on this is that I have written to cancel the agreement using their form as part of the 14 day cooling period. However, they appear to already have started doing work, so I hope that they do not charge me for this. In their agreement, it states only those who have clicked on a link on their portal to instruct work to begin, but I certainly didn't do that.

If they're operating within the T&C's that you agreed to (whether you read them or not), then they are entitled to charge for any work that has been carried out.

If you honestly believe that you have a genuine claim, then there is no need to employ ambulance-chasers - it's very easy to submit a claim yourself, there are any number of guides available online.
