CCJ claimant DCB Legal for Smart Parking

Hi,

I received on Saturday 9th May 2026 the following in relation to two ‘fines’ from the same car park in October 2023. The car was on a ‘whitelist’ with Smart Parking (whilst on a private plate) at the location but the plate was taken off the car a few days before the first ‘fine’ as was intending to sell the car and didn’t think the car would be in there again. Unforeseen circumstances in life then saw the car in there twice more and it escaped my mind to get the updated plate put on the list. Not long after that I’ve had no cause to use the car park anymore and life went on, ignored any letters that were sent but kept an eye out for a ‘letter before claim’ as per advice read. I did not receive a letter before claim and instead have now had this arrive. I have completed the AOS online and would like some advice on how to proceed from here. I’ve read the sticky thread etc but am struggling to pick from it exactly how I should proceed. Should I be contacting DCB Legal with a settlement?

Definitely not a CCJ, just a claim form from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL

With an issue date of 07/05/26 and providing you complete(d) the AoS after 12/05/26 and before or on 26/05/26 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 09/06/26
