Have to agree that A2A sounds like a sensible approach here, especially if starting from scratch, with no wet system. Though of course it will depend on the property, layout, and even occupants (as teenagers (just as an example) may not want to leave doors open for warm air to spread throughout.)

Shame the take up of (scheme qualified) installers is holding back the A2A side. I was wondering if having two 'gas heaters' may qualify for removing FF heating, but possibly not.

Even possible to add the A2A units in stages, to see what's needed. But perhaps more sensible to do it in one, with a couple of mini-splits each feeding one or two indoor units. Add on a HW tank, and should still be far less than a new central heating system.

On a slightly negative side, I do like the fact we have two A2A units (totally separate), so if one does decide to die in the middle of winter, we'll still have the other.
