IHD stopped showing electrical use/mini not showing gas.

As title really, smart meter installed (Landis+Gyr E470 type 5424) 4 years ago.has worked fine, since a few days ago the IHD screen now only show gas usage (Chameleon) so what have I done ? how to fix. Now by chance I have just got my Octopus mini set up & that's not showing gas, am I just unlucky…

You could unplug your IHD & remove the batteries (if it has any) for ten minutes, then plug it back in and see if that helps.

If not, you'll have to ask Octopus to fix it from their end.

Good luck getting Octopus to do anything to fix what is presumably a four year old IHD when they've just commissioned one of their Home Minis!

Thanks for the comments I have only just set up the home mini got fed up with waiting so purchased one & they haven't commissioned it yet, otherwise surly it would work. Hi QrizB thanks for the comment already tried that overnight

Where did you "purchase" a Home Mini? Octopus do not sell them and from experience on here they have flatly refused to connect any that were sold on by previous owners/users.

It seems there are a few for sale on eBay stating brand new, so presumably never commissioned.

I wonder if Octopus do set these up being unused before?

If you go to the actual gas meter (not the IHD) is it still working and displaying a reading when you press a button?

Had my electricity meter replaced (along with the communications hub) last year. The Home Mini got paired successfully and was reporting both gas & electricity. But the darned app crashes my notepad, so is [redacted] useless.

The IHD that was originally supplied when Eon had fitted the meters continued to show gas consumption, but not electricity. Spent way more time than I should have done sending images of the IHD bar codes and repeatedly berating the speed at which Octopus responded. Got to the stage where I was threatening to escalate the complaint to the Energy Ombudsman. Octopus finally sent me a new IHD that got paired to both gas & electricity - And yes, I do find it a valuable tool to monitor energy consumption.

Update, mini has now showing gas usage so this is all good (didn't have to do anything,just impatient)

Yes both meters are showing readings when activated,

Yes the mini was purchased from a well known auction site as new (box was still sealed) begins with a "v"

Not sure what you've bought, but my octopus mini only allows me to view live data for my electric, but not gas, (via the app and probably website).

Gas meters only send data every 30 minutes (to extend battery life) so you don't ever see "live" gas usage.
But you should see the 30-minute data on an IHD, or in the Octopus app if you have an Octopus Home Mini.
