Flights to Doha

Flew back via Doha at the weekend. No issues at all, flights were very smooth and all on time. I was aware insurance wouldn't have been valid but for a couple of hours on the ground was prepared to take the risk as it was all booked before everything started. Flight was originally a BA codeshare but BA had cancelled all their flights so was transferred to a direct Qatar Airways flight arriving at the same time.

Thanks. That is my insurance provider's stance. Flight no, holiday yes. Guess I'd have to make sure that neither us nor the kids go skidding on a freshly mopped floor at Doha airport.

I should have added that both the inbound and outbound flights from Doha were packed so there are plenty of people using that route at the moment.

Additional concerns: presumably there is no cover if you miss your flight? How about illness during the flight?

Will roll the dice rather than lose over £3k

Illness during the flight if it's serious enough would presumably involve diversion to another airport other than Doha.

A lot of insurers won't cover missed flights, irrespective of the middle east issue.

The risk most likely to happen would be if your first flight was delayed and you missed your connection or the second flight was delayed or cancelled. That gives you longer in Doha than you might have liked, without insurance. It's a small risk, I'd probably take that risk, particularly if there is a cease fire.

If things stay the same, I am thinking that we will probably take the flights. It's seven weeks away so anything can happen.
