I'm not sure I'd agree with that. Realistically these days £1000 cars are banger territory, so selling it with 6 months MOT is fine. Getting a fresh MOT may help especially if it passes well.
OP isn't saying it's got no MOT or won't pass, but WBAC ask if it has 6+ months MOT and since there's now a few days under 6 months they'd have to say no and take an arbitrary drop in value.
I'm more surprised that a cheap car hasn't sold privately as there's usually pretty decent demand for something cheap that runs. Of course we don't know what the car is; it might be some large engined saloon that'd make a terrible first car.0 -

Can depend on where OP lives (ULZ zones) & where it has been advertised. Guessing from what OP implied. It will be the likes of facebook marketplace gumtree etc.
