If it says "no calls" then it means there is no call package and any calls you make are on a PAYG rate.

Things that are different: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

With respect, Exodi, I think you're a bit out of date.

If you continue using non-fibre broadband (ADSL) you're forced to pay line rental as the broadband uses OR's copper lines to function.

I haven't had "line rental" as a separate charge on my FTTC (now SOGEA) broadband service for many years.

If the OP is being quoted eg. £30 per month by EE including a telephone line, vs. eg. £25 per month by PlusNet but with no telephone line included, that's genuinely a £5ppm saving.

(I have no idea what @FiestaRed is actually being quoted, or by which ISPs.)

As I mentioned earlier, Virgin installed fibre points at every house on the street. Does that mean I will have to go with Virgin and how would the 'supplier' get from the pavement to my house please? Do they need to bury a cable?

Apologies for so many questions. I've sat on my !!!!!! for many years and just accepted the EE price increases every time they've come around.

    Probably not.

What deals does the MSE broadband tool offer you?

    This is not correct.

You can have an FTTC broadband product with a phone service, you haven't been able to order a traditional landline service since September 2023 and "Digital Voice" is an "over the top" service. If look at Plusnet for example, they don't even offer any type of voice service but will quite happily provide broadband to my FTTC address.

Binned my landline phone just over a year ago on my Plusnet FTTC renewal where it would be +£4pm. Never looked back and as far as I am aware the only hiccup was when the local vaccination centre tried to contact me pretty much immediately after cancelling - they were on my "to do" list - but they contacted my GP surgery and got my mobile off them. So far none of the ambulance chasers / scammers seem to have my mobile number.

The top two, Vodaphone and Sky both say "no calls included" but they are much cheaper than my current supplier which is EE. Would that mean no land line and using my mobile for all calls?

On the MSE site, "no calls included" means you still have a telephone service but you pay per call made. There should be a little "?" icon next to it where you can click to see the call costs.

It will say "broadband only (no line)" if there is no telephone service included at all.

There are also various options that get displayed for weekend / evening / anytime inclusive calls.

We have a "no calls included" service from Vodafone. We only really use the telephone for incoming calls as we've never got around to giving everyone a mobile number. We make all our outgoing calls on our mobiles.
