I would never live with anyone that wouldn’t pay their share. That would be a deal breaker.

Absolutely do not put her on the deeds - it is your house, not hers. The moment you put her on the deeds, you loose the house. Its that simple. Do not get her to contribute to any house related costs to avoid her getting a claim on the property.

Instead, any utility bills should come out of a seperate account - she should be contributing 50% towards these and 50% towards any other joint-costs, such as food or fuel bills.

Frankly, from an impartial point of view it sounds like she's financially exploiting you - giving her a claim to your property would be insane. You'll be homeless when the relationship breaks down.

I’ve been in one sided relationships in the past.

    Does not end well.
I had my house and girlfriends who lived with me, said they would go half on bills, well some did. But didn’t want to pay towards rent as such. Makes you feel like a door mat.

The only way that ever worked was with my wife.

We both worked, at times we were both in and out of work, so the other one covered the bills.

    Fair deal.

We both had a property, so the rent issue never came up.

Beyond that, we put £300 a month each in an account to cover bills.

When I gave up work to care for her full time her benefits covered the bills.

I got my cares allowance as pocket money.
