Yes, they never think they'll get caught until they do.
When she does get caught, DWP will prosecute and likely seek a custodial sentence as there is clearly intent, and the amounts defrauded can mount up over time.
If you are unable to persuade her to do the right thing, the best thing you can do for her is to anonymously report her now before it gets to that level. The longer it goes on, the more serious it becomes.

The longer it goes on then more the punishment will be.Let's Be Careful Out There1 -
Why do you need to convince her?
You know it's fraudulent behaviour, she knows it's fraudulent behaviour. She only appears interesting in knowing how she might be caught, and with that knowledge improving her systems, so why not just let this run? She gets caught, she doesn't get caught, either way this doesn't seem your battle to fight.

"There is never any purchasing of food, household items etc on my bank statements, everything I buy is on a credit card".
I use my credit card too and in any review the statements show what spending is on. It also shows that I have no other source of funds when my UC runs low (as it's not enough to pay my bills) that I have to resort to credit cards at high interest.

Sorry - been a bit of a week.
Because she's vulnerable at the minute. She's unable to have children. Her partner left her last year to be with someone 20 years younger because he wants the family she can't provide. 2 months ago he became a father. She lost her home when they split and is now living in a bedsit in her mid 50's with no family (parents passed away - only child) and very few friends apart from me and I'm worried about her.
She seems to think this is ok because she's never had a break in life and that this is a loophole she can use without worry. If she gets caught and prosecuted she wont cope.
This thread has given me some useful advice so hopefully I can give her some info to convince her to do the right thing.
