Argos Pay

Please be gentle - this is my first post here, and I hope it's the right forum for this info.

Argos have changed their credit service over the weekend and it's now called Argos Pay. I think they've changed/resold the credit to another provider and rebranded it.

I've used their buy now pay later schemes over the years to spread payments and never incurred any interest, so it's a service I've been happy to use. The old app was nicely presented and clearly showed when the 0% interest period expired, making it easy to pay things off before interest was added.

The new app appears to be dreadful. It shows how long the BNPL scheme (as they refer to it in-app) is for, along with the purchase date, but not the expiry date. They've also not migrated any labels that you applied to a purchase, so it's no longer clear if a purchase was for a fridge or washing machine for example, which was useful to know.

I think it's a poor effort on their part, and I'd be concerned that it is designed to trick people into incurring interest on their purchases. For example, one of the payment plans that I have which runs out soon is actually at the bottom of the list.

I don't think your alone, there is an article in the Sun about this exact changeover…

Have you tried their website to see if the information is any better laid out?

I've tried both app and website, end dates are missing.

Just been on Messenger, they know about it and the agent advised they are working on it.

  • You are one of the lucky ones. I'm still waiting for my registration code so I can't even sign up for online or the app

I was in the same position, no code, but if you have the email with your account number you can request the email with the code to be resent during the process and it arrived instantly.

I did this on the web not via the app.

I've tried signing up on both the app and on the web and can't get the registration code to be sent. I did have a code but I kept getting an error to say I had input wrong details and ended up getting locked out. I phoned up Argos Pay, had my account reset so i could try registering once again and am having exactly the same problem. It looks like I'll have to phone them again.

Despite having successfully registered 2 days ago, the "Let's set you up" email with account number and online registration number arrived at 0031 this morning.

    What a farce!

A lot of posts online about registration BUT the issue is that once you have access, you will see how very poor this app is. Like the OP says, no renaming of BNPL plans which is very handy and useful. But more importantly, the app forces you to pay off the TOTAL balance owing and not of each BNPL. The old app allowed this. So these two areas need addressing as soon as possible. I cannot believe that the app was released without these "features". So very, very poor. Come on Argos. Get this sorted now.😡

  • I’m also interested in the answers here. I don’t understand Argos pay. It’s like they’ve changed it into an Argos specific credit card and I don’t think it’s fair to those who have existing plans. It should only apply to new customers for now and they should honour the original agreement for those existing plans.

I've downloaded Argospay and just made my 1st payment, it came off my balance within 2 hours which I liked. The thing I miss is not being able to chose which plan my payment comes off. I've a 600 plan due to expire Jan 27 and I'd rather start chipping away at that over a 200 balance due sooner or paying 25 off each plan instead of forced to pay 50 off one. Argos have taken that choice away from us and it does have interest implications should I default due to job loss etc

I`m surprised there is not more made in the media about this. Martin Lewis should flag this "upgraded" app on his socials etc due to this lack of ability to pay off certain BNPL, some with different ending dates. Shocking!
