my father recently passed away and we hadnt spoken for a long time for various reasons. I am now trying to sort out his estate. As far as I am aware he had no will. He was in a care home when he passed, and had none of his own possessions there. He had been taken from a housing association flat to the care home with items…

This is a major problem when people have no one to act for them once they can no longer do it themselves. Had he been a home owner no doubt the LA would have taken on the job of obtaining deputyship, but that is a costly and long winded process so it is not cost effective where someone e has little in the way of assets.
