s/h car from dealership - extras - to buy or not to buy - also which dashcam?
Hi all
following a no-fault accident my pretty little car will be written off (sob!) so I have put a deposit down on a similar car. This car was bought from a family member who had had it from new.
The following extras are on the table.
G3 paint protection $399
Alloy insurance (36 months) $499
Minor damage protection insurance (36 months) $499
I'm tempted by the alloy/tyre insurance as DD fell foul of a pothole recently; I had alloy insurance on a previous dealer-bought car; never claimed, but the roads round here are pothole-rich)
but the others?
As I also plan on getting a dashcam hardwired these extras plus the dashcam and fitting could add $2k to final bill so I'd appreciate your thoughts. To clarify - this won't be via the dealership.
Apols for $ - can't remember how to do a pound sign.
Which dash cam (front and rear) - found a black Vue am interested in
(The other driver was 100% at fault, he either didn't see I was already on the roundabout or he thought he could get in front of me as he entered - he didn't. Luckily the accident was witnessed).
Thank you Honey Bear

Whichever dashcam ask how footage is downloaded. It can be a thankless and frustrating task.1 -
G3 paint protection $399 NO
Alloy insurance $499 NO
(extra tbc) $499 NO
With the dash cam plugged into the cigarette lighter I've just saved you $2,000.

Buy a dash cam and hard wire it yourself, or get somewhere like Halfords to do it for you at a fraction of the cost a dealership will charge. Blackvue if you want cloud upload and huge parked recording time, Viofo if you want great optics, low light performance and lower cost.

G3 protection - what kind of owner are you? Diligently washing it every week, or let the rain do the job? If the latter then it is worth it as it makes it easier to keep it clean, without the work 🤣.

A hard wired dashcam will record when car is parked. DD (who has had some rotten luck with cars) had her first car written off when parked when a police chase went wrong.
What's your reasoning, please?

I have looked atr the cams in Halfords and will probably take it there for fitting or use an independent person. I doubt I could fit it myself anyway.

Front cameras are a five minute job to fit oneself,if you have a separate wired rear camera that can be a lot more work with trim etc. so I would probably get someone who knows what they are doing to do that, if it just has a rear pointing module on the front camera that is easy.
