Holding back on booking flights because of jet fuel shortages?

How much is this affecting your holiday decisions? I already have 1 trip in May which I booked before the current events started. I had other plans for June to September but I am reluctant to risk flights at the moment. I am considering Eurostar or UK trips.

my one abroad trip of the year was already booked, so the only issue nowis whether I manage to get there and back

I've already got a trip booked for May which has been booked since February.

Just booked a trip for July but booked as a British Airways package so I'm not dealing with separate flight and accommodation bookings should the flight be cancelled.

I have places that I want to fly to so booking and hoping flights aren't cancelled is the only real option.

The only change I would make at the moment is to ensure accommodation and other related bookings I make are flexible, if not booking a package.

we were just about to book flights to Sri Lanka to visit my in laws just as the war kicked off. Given we transit in the Middle East and possible fuel shortage we held off. Unless the war ends soon we won't be going anywhere. I will miss seeing the in laws

We are off to favourite Adult Only haunt in the eastern Costa del Sol this weekend, return flight early May - I assume TUI have enough fuel for both legs !!!

As long as they get us there I am prepared for the "hardships" of them subsequently having to accommodate us there and arrange repatriation 😁 - same as our extra days in Malta April 2010 with Thomas Cook.

I'll need to check travel insurance to find out if extra unplanned days in the car park near the airport are covered if flight is significantly delayed.

Next airborne holiday is Jersey in the autumn - hopefully the mess in the Middle East will have settled down by then……………..

that’s not a lot of help though if it’s cancelled it short notice. I am doing a two week trip next week where I’m staying in a different place each night. All of them are cancellable at different time periods from the day before to not after a week before the date of stay.

I've got a June holiday booked, unfortunately not a package and the accommodation part is expensive but expecting that will be OK. I would normally start to look at an early summer break now as well as late summer and Autumn holidays, but have decided to hold off to see how things work out. I'm not fussed as I'm happy to book something late or not at all as I'm not tied to annual leave or other issues/

PTR only obligated tour operator to cover 3 days extended accommodation costs.

You might get a long time in Spain but might also accrue costs.

Return from Spain could be facilitated overland.

If you end up stuck in Spain, employment issues might arise, or home insurance. Medical appointments. Such like.

Yes, I thought of that yesterday. Re the Home Insurance. On my Facts given to purchase the Home Insurance, I declared that I was never out of the home for more than 30 days.

So one would have to be careful of that issue.

"Unoccupied" is 60 days, as a definition in the main Policy booklet, but I think if I was to be held up for longer than 30 days abroad, I would have to give them a ring.

Last week I booked all my flights for various trips up to the end of January. My reasoning is that 1) prices are going to go up because of the extra fuel costs and 2) if the airlines need to cancel some flights later, it will be their problem to sort out an alternative. And obviously cancellations mean fewer seats and therefore it will make whatever is available even more expensive to book later.

Accommodation isn't so much of an issue for me because most of the trips are to a family holiday place. I do need to book a couple of hotels but that can wait for a few months, and I tend to book fully refundable rooms anyway
