Ryanair - No public transport due to late arrival - Compensation?

My daughter flew from Barcelona to Stansted on flight FR8217 on 16th April.

Scheduled departure 20:05, actual departure 23:14

Scheduled arrival 21:30, actual arrival 00:00

When she landed, all the public transport back into London had ceased operating so she had to take a cab back home, as did quite a few others on the flight.

New to this flight delay compensation stuff, but is there any guidance on what she should be entitled to for the additional expense, caused by the Ryanair late departure and arrival?

There are coaches from Stansted which run all night direct to Stratford and Liverpool St with National Express and flibco - where you can connect to night buses. National express also offer several stopping services to London Victoria coach station overnight which stop at Baker St. Finchley Road, Dalston, Waterloo and Golders Green etc.

The Stansted express train may stop at 12.30am - but it isn't true to say there is no public transport post midnight. So you can certainly get to London - where typically most public transport users would be heading.

So not really sure - beyond the hassle - what your complaint would be. The flight was late - but onward travel is not Ryanair's issue. And they will simply say why didn't she get one of the many coaches which run at regular intervals all night to London!

This is a risk I am afraid with late night flights arriving post 9pm - the last train may be gone.

The airline is not responsible for consequential losses as a result of delayed arrival - there is no provision for compensation in EC/UK 261 for these circumstances.

The flight delay/cancellation regulations impose obligations on airlines for arrivals that are over three hours late, but nothing for shorter delays, so there isn't anything that would entitle your daughter to claim onward travel expenses from Ryanair here.
