DAMAGED TYRE

New tyre..
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
No chance of a patch on the side wall I am afraid. Has it lost pressure? Can you see the cords underneath the flap?

Has it deflated or exposed the cords/structure?

Trim that flap off, and let's see what's inside.
If it's all black, then it's not at all good, but it'll survive.
It it's anything else, or if the air's escaping, then it's toast.
Stop driving into kerbs.0 -
It looks like a new tyre to me. Don't rely on the opinion of people on an Internet forum, don't drive on it unless someone qualified has said it's safe.

I'll put my tuppence on an internet forum. The tyre is gubbed, get a new one and drive more carefully. Even if it is still holding air the only good bit is you might get to the tyre place without changing it.

If the cords are exposed you need a new tyre. Otherwise, some rubber cement will stick that back down.

Nah you don’t need a new one, it will be alright.
id that the answer you wanted?0 -
We can't say anything other than replace it over t'interweb.
Best to take it to an independent tyre fitter and ask them, if they say it needs a new one then buy one.
The big Nationals are going to err on the side of caution and just tell you to get a new one with a quick glance as they don't want any liability for an accident that could be blamed on them saying the tyre is fine, the same as us 😉
To pass an MOT there must not be any cords visible if you fold the flap of rubber back to see under it.
Certainly if a bulge starts to appear or the tyre is leaking through that cut it must be replaced.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I have repaired small flaps with superglue, but not that big. I'm on the side of replace it. You will have to do so when it lets you down or causes an mot fail so might as well shop around and get a good value new one now. Blackcircles has some offers on.
