Any idea ?
An MVNO is a mobile operator that doesn't have its own network but buys capacity from another. The best known example is Virgin Mobile (which uses T-Mobile) but there are others.
I'm not aware of any MVNOs operating on the Three or Orange networks. However, Three has always used GSM networks to fill in the gaps in coverage in its 3G network. It used to use O2 for this but now it uses Orange.
This means that if you have a phone on the Three network and there's no Three 3G coverage, it'll roam onto Orange where possible.
I believe that this is the reason that people have always complained of calls cutting off: there's no way of handing over seamlessly from one to the other.0 -
There was a report in mobile today magazine that 3 will be helping MVNO operations later this year. I think you have confused the issue as pointed out by the earlier post.
