Lycamobile roaming

I had a Lycamoblie plan which included roaming in EU and India but could not get it to work in India
Wasted several hours trying the suggestions of their help desk (turning off, replacing SIM etc) then tried signing up for a roaming bundle - which worked - so nothing wrong with my phone settings
Has anyone else failed to get the included roaming in India to work ?
