Drill won't change speed.

That's a nice drill, and wasn't cheap.
Try what Lorian suggests - the gearbox slider should be very obvious in use, and firmly locate in each position. If it doesn't slide all the way towards one end, then turn the chuck a small amount, either by jabbing the trigger or turning it by hand, and see if it now engages all the way.
If it's stuck in '1', it should be obviously slow, and acting more like a power screwdriver. In '2' it spins like a 'drill'.
Highly unlikely the gearbox is damaged - how could it be? So most likely part of the plastic slider control. Should be very obvious once opened.

Did you get it from a trusted retailer? Those drill drivers are usually really reliable very rarely on tgtbt offers. There's lots of fakes about that look convincing if you don't know what you're looking for

Yes, bought over the counter from a national retailer, came in sealed L- box with an impact driver, batteries and charger. I have no doubts re it's authenticity...

Have you tried Lorian's checks?
What gear do you reckon it is stuck in?
Can you prove proof of purchase? They should come with a min 2-year warranty for DIY use.

Yes
Stick in low gear
Unfortunately I don't have the receipt now.

So the lever slides fully to 'high'?
What does the lever feel like as it does so? Does it feel 'connected'?

I would describe the motion as normal however it fails to change gear.
I'll probably open it over the weekend and have a look for obvious defects.

Bosch is a standard one year warranty, but you can register it to extend it to 3 years.

Thanks. Pfft - I shouldn't trust Google… It suggested 2 for DIY, and one for Pro, but both extendable by registering. Alas, seemingly a moot point.

I think it can be hard for them to prove it wasn't used solely for DIY, unless bought by a company. Parkside do a 3 year warranty, but they probably rely on the fact that you would rarely see the brand on site, so for DIY use the 3 years are not a problem. The majority of big firms and hire companies tend to use Hilti.
