Our very own @QrizB gets a mention in the FT
While I don't believe the battery ownership experience needs to be as agonizing as the journalist's experience clearly has been, I do hope that more home battery owners will exercise more diligence when deciding whether a battery, and perhaps more importantly, which battery is the right decision for their households.

Any way to circumvent the paywall for those of us without an FT subscription?

Edit: if anyone's interested in the discussion, it was the second half of this thread.

Well, if it was all as complicated as they make out in that report I'd have never managed. Quite simply, it just worked.
I'd read the forums, had a good idea about tariffs and asked the installers questions about how to use the app to program the battery but a bit of knowledge and basic common sense should be enough for most people. OK, and maybe an IQ over 80?
QrizB always gives great balanced advice on any topic he cares to comment on and never looses patience, or at least never appears to.

He made that sound extremely confusing. I’d say the installers really should now what they are doing to make it all pretty seamless and give you a working first time option for battery installs.
At least they hit the correct forum for advice.

I know the fire hazard is often overstated but I don't think I'd be happy with a battery under the stairs unless I had an alternative escape route!

If he had taken the advice of @Screwdriva and selected the Tesla Powerwall, then he probably wouldn't have had any of the issues mentioned in the article.

Something weird going on. I read this article in the paper a few weeks ago. And indeed it is on their website a few weeks ago? They seem to have just republished the same article with a new date? Lots more comments on the original article.

My thoughts at the time was I wish they had some more adventurous people, if only to live vicariously. I guess you get less support and integration with Octopus but for the same money some people get 32kwh of Fogstar installed with AC so not diminishing their FIT generation… Or if they are braver Eco-Flow are currently £1351 for 16kwh plus inverter and installation. Or some really brave people go cheaper still and gamble on anything direct from china, which can't be a good idea, but is fun to hear about. The FT guy must have paid about £500 a kwh. Fogstar gets down to around £200 at the moment. Being the Ft it would have been nice to get an estimate of his payback estimate.
Still well done posters for their moment of fame. Hands up anyone else whose an undercover journalist?
