I go on holiday to relax and enjoy myself.
My holidays don't include washing clothes.

Indeed.
Going on a regular hotel holiday is an opportunity to take some "dressy" clothes for the evening at dinner and socialising time - even for men. It's part of the overall experience abroad.
Trying to live out of a carry on cabin case does not appeal to either of us in the slightest……I would be reduced to scruff order.
That's why the major package holiday operators like TUI and Jet2 include hold luggage in their standard overall prices.
Anybody who wishes to go light is welcome to that world……each to their own.

Neither do mine. I also go to relax and enjoy myself, but can do it on hand luggage only, with evening options.

But you recommended washing clothes…

It's an option available whether you travel light or with vast quantities of check in, it isn't a "recommendation". I'd say others have been stronger in the "recommendation" area.

It took 2 minutes to get through passport control at Schipol today.

Did that include the first time registration process ?

I was assuming that, in the context of this thread's topic, the poster would have been leaving the EU, but worth clarifying…

We flew in earlier in the week and registered, took probably 30 minutes, that was to register then come through the gates.
Leaving, we did bag drop, security then passport control, total time was 20 minutes, queued for passport control at 4 minutes past, was through 6 minutes past.
Only downside was then trying to pass 3 hours in the airport

As the OP has booked a package holiday with TUI, hold luggage will be included in the holiday price.
So most (probably all) people booking a package holiday will be taking hold luggage.
Your suggestion may be useful to people other than the OP..
