  • don't forget that some people (like me) will hook up a PC to their 1080p TV and will notice a difference

    in case that's what you plan on doing then note that the hitachi mentioned above only allows 1080p via its two HDMI ports, the other ports (composite RGB, VGA) are 720p

    The amount of people that hook up there PC's to tv's will be extremely small.
  • no tips on tv prices but if you are wall mounting it didnt pay the £150 for the wall bracket in currys but looked online at amazon and found them for around £20.for upto 50inch screen:T

    Another good site for mounts is www.avrabbit.com.
    Vast array of types of mount, everything from cheap and cheerful to motorised ceiling mounts :D

    Hi Guys thank you for more advices, Deanos , i will definitely look at other TV, i wanted a 1080p because it is the latest technology.. but i am not an expert this is why i just assume if i want a TV, I should get the latest.

    markbodelwyddan, i actually did not think about that, it would be helpful to hook it up to computer for me since i like watching videos on my computer. vbmenu_register("postmenu_7728299", true);

    Ianbroadhurst, thank you for the site, it looks great i will certainly do that. But I will have another issue in getting someone to fit it on for me... that might cost me another 100 odds quids.

    lexie55, i know about that deal.. but the reason for me buying a new TV is because my current tv has broken down... at the wrong time maybe...

    many thanks for all of your information, i have learnt alot!!

    Hi,

    Just a tip for you. Shop around and try somewhere like 'Empire Direct' for a reasonable/competative price. Then check 'John Lewis' they have an Internet site, they will price match other companies as long as they have a shop outlet (Empire direct have) and John Lewis will provide a 5 year guarantee and free delivery (within reasonable distance).

    p.s. I have used John Lewis (Sony 40" - KDL40W2000) as have several friends, all very pleased with price and service. I have no connection with John Lewis by the way, just pleased with price/guarantee/service.

    Good Luck

    Can you explain this to me. I have seen a Panasonic at Empire Direct £800 = £25 for delivery. John Lewis does it online for £999. How do I go about it, do I have to ring John Lewis first and see whether they will price match? Thanks

    Unless you have a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player then there is no real obvious advantage to the 1080p over the 1080i. SKY HD only broadcast in 1080i for example. If you are are gamer with a xbox360 or ps3 I'm not sure every game does 1080p?

    I wouldnt touch a Sony Bravia unless you are going onto a Sky HD or a childrens game machine like XBox or whatever. The Sony Bravia connected through a normal Sky+ and roof aerial is no better then a £199 el cheapo telly. I wasted a lot of money finding this out. The Technosic range is pretty good, I bought a 32" from tesco in a sale and if anything is clearer then the Sony Bravia KDL40p3020. ?
