  • Hi,

Just a tip for you. Shop around and try somewhere like 'Empire Direct' for a reasonable/competative price. Then check 'John Lewis' they have an Internet site, they will price match other companies as long as they have a shop outlet (Empire direct have) and John Lewis will provide a 5 year guarantee and free delivery (within reasonable distance).

p.s. I have used John Lewis (Sony 40" - KDL40W2000) as have several friends, all very pleased with price and service. I have no connection with John Lewis by the way, just pleased with price/guarantee/service.

    Good Luck

Well I just bought 3 tvs recently.

2 Toshiba 37" LCDs dixons had them at a good price in the sale.

then i got a 42" Panasonic plasma screen from a company called kk electronics in london.

both companies i can recommend... I have also heard many good things about empire direct too.

though my research i have established, (shoot me done if wrong) but Panasonics are counted as the best displays which all others are compared against. read the reviews on sites like which! to help you decide

    hope that helps

oh they were for work, not for my house :)

Most of Which?'s best buys are Panasonic's.
Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!
  • this was posted recently on the grabbit section. some debate about the quality but its the cheapest 1080p tv available at the moment as far as i know

  • Hi value,

Bought the tv+ sony dvd/recorder(hdx860) December 2006 from JL £1569.00. Which was a bargain, the tv was £1999.00 at comet etc at the time - heard about the deal on av forums site. (The tv was best buy in 'what home cinema' mag at time)
The tv is excellent, on all formats- normal, freeview(built in)sky, dvd. I have purchased a sony 32" since and my parents have just got the kdl32d300 'Best buy in recent 'which' mag (got a pricematch at JL at £678.99)
I think 'Sony' is as good a tv as any, but it comes down to Individual choice.

    Good luck

Why do you want 1080p at such small screen sizes ?

The thing that matters most is picture quality, the latest buzz word is 1080p but it does not guarantee good picture quality.
