Going one better - Had Anglian knocking on my door. Pointed to the fitter that was in the middle of replacing the bay window just a few feet away and asked "Do you REALLY think I would want you clowns doing any work ?".

I say "You've got the janitors office at the local police station; would you like to speak with the Chief Superintendent?"

No one has yet taken up the offer!

We have 'Gabby, your local energy advisor' with a northern accent calling regularly. She repeatedly tries to sell us loft insulation even though we live in a flat roofed house and do not have a loft. I have read that she's a bot and not even a person. She certainly couldn't understand the concept of a total flat roof, art deco and didn't understand when I asked her if she'd ever watched 'Poirot'. She then tried to sell me wall insulation. Next time I'm going to tell her that I haven't got walls either.

I was really pleased to see a youngster at the door asking if I needed a new kitchen. Because I did so I said yes I was interested.

I was actually hoping to get a design for free and not intending to buy but I look innocent.

She was so stunned and so was the lad working the other side of the road. They said they had to tell their employer who would be in touch - but he never was.

    I was disappointed 😉
