Seeking a refund for an order

I ordered some guinep fruit from www.fruitmania.co.uk on the 9th of April. I've never used them before.

I got a confirmation email which stated they will email when they have dispatched. I paid £7 for next day delivery. It's now the 14th and I haven't heard from them. Their contact number doesn't work.

I asked ChatGPT and was told it was impossible to buy guinep as it isn't in season for another 3 months

I've emailed Fruit Mania,

“I ordered Guinep from you on the 9th as your site states that it is in stock. I have researched and found that it is not in season. Can you send a refund for the order please?"

I paid with a credit card. I've never tried to chase a refund for an online purshase outside of eBay.

They have a second mobile number for events, have you tried that? Although looking at their Instagram page, it’s a few months since they last posted, so possibly not the most thriving of businesses.
how much did you pay for the fruit?

The fruit is often frozen so it is available 12 months of the year.

assuming it’s the most obvious limited company, it seems to be a one-woman operation - I would give her more than three working days before getting alarmed about anything.

I think I'd have focused on failure to deliver rather than relaying AI stuff like that (which you obviously could have done before deciding to order), so would have gone with something more like "I ordered on the 9th and paid extra for next day delivery, but haven't received anything, or had any news, five days later, so please refund".

    Hi Renfrewman,

The site specialises in fresh fruit. There is no mention of the fruit being frozen. If so, it should be mentioned in the description. I won't be ordering from them again.

There is another website that sells fresh fruit wwww.myexoticfruit.co.uk. I've used them before without issue.

They give you the option to choose frozen or fresh. The advertisement on Fruit Mania for guinep only has this info,

'Guinep is a small berry like fruit, native to the Caribbean. It has a sweet taste with a seed in the centre'.

You could do a charge back on your credit card - you need to have evidence you’ve tried to resolve it with them first because even if you get the money, the retailer can dispute it and sometimes it’s reversed.

There's also a lead time from the scheduled delivery date before being able to initiate a chargeback claim for non-delivery, which I believe is 15 days for Visa and 30 days for Mastercard, so OP wouldn't be able to do this for a while yet.

I've checked my junk mail folder and there are no messages from her at all. I sent her another cancellation request today via email as I didn't have evidence using the contact us page on her website.
