Summer holidays for family of five. Any recommendations?

Hi all:hello:
Wanting to book a package holiday at the end of July for 2 adults and 3 boys, 11, 9 and 6.
Thinking of Crete but open to suggestions. Really hoping that some of you will have some recommendations. Accommodation suitable for five can be difficult to spot but when you do it can really make a big difference to the price of the holiday over having to split into 2 rooms.
We would really like to have a lovely fun family holiday with a little relaxation for mum and dad too. Not worried about being able to go out in the evenings or having a drink. Our fun will be focused around our daytime activities.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Hopefully if I can keep the cost of this holiday down Hubby and me can get away on our own in May for my 40th! That way I can look forward to the big day rather than dread it.
Thanks again

Have you thought about a DIY holiday? we have booked a villa in Spain sleeping 6 with its own pool and games room. it comes in at £1300 for 2 weeks in July. Flights van be had with low cost carriers for £300 return then you have car hire on top approx £200. So all in £1800 for 5 of us. Of course you need to factor in food. Hope this helps, could PM you the villa site if you were interested.0

Hi
If you look at holidayrentals, ownersdirect & holidaylettings, you should be able to pick up a cheap apartment/villa direct from the owners. I have booked the DIY holidays since we became a family of 5 and it is so much cheaper that way.
If you need any help, just shout!!Comping from May 2012
Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help

Thanks I must look at this and I guess booking early is essential to get a good price for flights.
Do the children manage to still make friends with other kids when you do it this way?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
No problem with the children making friends as long as you stay on a complex. Also the hotels offer entertainment in the evenings and they can make friends there as well as you don't need to be staying in the hotel.
The real plus about DIY is that the accommodation is far superior to the package ones, with washing machines, sky TV, dishwashers etc...
As Poet 123 mentioned, flights can be really cheap depending where you go and when you book them. Having a car means that you can get to the cheaper supermarkets as well as see the area. We spent a week in Turkey last August when we were collected and dropped back to the Airport. I felt completely lost without a car on holiday & it was only 6 days.Comping from May 2012

Just to give you a guide, I have booked to go to Turkey for 2 weeks in August, the costings are:
Flights £126.00 each (but I could have got them at £70 if booked 48hrs earlier)
3 bedroom apartment £500 for 2 weeks
Car hire - approx £300 to £400
This is a lot cheaper than going through a tour operator.Comping from May 2012

Club Sun City in Olu Deniz, Turkey does 5 bedded family rooms. It's all-inclusive with daytime and evening activities, but you're only a very short walk from other bars, shops and restaurants if you wanted to go out.
It was on our shortlist, but we went for Olu Deniz Beach Resort instead (4 beds + a cot space!).
We found both in the Cosmos brochure, but I expect other tour operators will offer them. Here I go again on my own....0
