It sounds like the problem is that there is only a single supply to the barn, that is then split to two meters.

Ectophile is thinking the same way I am. And this should all have been sorted out as part of the barn sale, or even when the house was first sold to the OP 20 years ago.

The house was bought by myself from parents with an agreement that the house and barn would be sold together at a future date if one party was selling. Title deeds were produced for the mortgage purposes. The same solicitors were involved with both transactions 20 years apart. The Title deeds were a paper exercise only. I paid the first bill after the barn was sold. The new owner of the barn used 64 units and stopped using completely after the first bill was settled. Sort of ties in with me being told it was my supply.

What has initiated the cost of £6,000 ?

Are you increasing the demand of the farmhouse - heating, heat pump, ………. ?

Where is the meter for the farmhouse - in the barn or the house?

6000 pounds was for a new supply cable from the trans former 100 yards away. No increased demand. I only wanted to move my meter. 18 months of mortgage payments would have been avoided. I was selling the house and stupidly believed that by accepting a price of 700 pounds and paying that amount to re route the existing cable. That work order was cancelled and I was put to the back of the queue.
