Compensation for USA internal flights
we flew to the USA and stayed in New York for 24 hours. Delta cancelled our flight from La Guardia to Orlando in the early morning when the flight was due in the late afternoon. So we never went to the airport that day.
There was travel chaos due to it being the week before Easter and the security personnel being on strike.
All they could offer was a flight the next day for the 3 of us - so we had to stay an extra night.
I have world wide multi trip annual insurance.
I have submitted a complaint to delta to reimburse my accommodation costs of 466$ for the extra NewYork accommodation.
There was no help from the airline to secure accommodation - but we were able to stay the extra night in our accommodation we had stayed the first night.
does anyone have any experience of whether delta are likely to reimburse the hotel costs?
if not would I need to claim on my travel insurance?
I should add we lost a whole night and day in our Florida accommodation. I’m
Not asking delta for that - just the New York hotel
It put a dampener on our trip as you can imagine and triggered my anxiety.
Any thoughts?

Rules in the US are very different, you will not get anything out of Delta, you need to claim on your insurance.
