Whats failed? Sim / Phone / Coverage?
hi,
i still have several Tesco PAYG sim cards, full size sim cards. they're many years old but one use every 6 months has kept them active.
they have been sitting in Nokia 6300's. today i get "sim card failed" on all of them. i don't have any other phones that take full sim cards to check.
i popped a Lebara sim in a 6300 and that works. Lebara runs on Vodafone, Tesco on O2. i have O2 in modern phones and no issues.
so is it the phone and the 2g/3g has happened or have my sims been killed?
thanks.

It's Tesco, look up and research their PAYG, they pulled the plug on it recently, since Christmas anyway

To have one SIM card fail would be unfortunate, several all at the same time? They've been decommissioned. Did you not get notifications (probably by SMS to those SIMs) about swapping to a new tariff and SIM?
I had an old Tesco PAYG with a few quid on it that I emptied last year (SMS donations) then dumped.

ok, i have lost them. i don't even have the phone switched on so won't have received any texts, i have for years just switched on at about 5 months + 1 week and sent a text. today was that day.
we just have one in the car as a backup and one in the OH's bag again as a backup.
oh well. nvm.
thanks.
edit. actually annoying as i could have done the same as you fl and donated the credit on each.

I hate to ask what might be a daft question but why do you need so many sims as "spares"?

That did rather stand out didn't it ;)

just old sims from back in the day, only 4 but they've worked in the old nokia 6300 and have credit so iv'e kept them as iv'e moved to contract sims.

I've a few left, proper PAYG SIMs that you stuck a couple of quid on and they lasted for years - only sensible place to keep them is in the old phones that you've collected along the way and haven't yet managed to swap for a ridiculously generous trade-in deal (20 yo HTC got me £250 off an expensive Samsung a while ago).
Trouble is the operators are slowly but surely killing them off (RIP 3 Data Reward) but a few are hanging in there (just). Don't see the supply of O2 Classics lasting forever, and the top-up rules seem to be being enforced.
