Hello All,
I wonder if someone could help me with this?
I recently fitted a firewire/USB card into my PC.
During the installation process, I seem to have messed up somehow as the USB ports are working ok but NOT the firewire ports (and the firwire facility is the reason why i fitted it!)
I think I may have switched off the firewire ports but don't know how to switch them back on.
Could someone help?
Cheers

Whats it say in Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager?
There should be an entry like "IEEE 1394", or similar."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
I fitted a firewire card recentley and it needed a connection from the power supply to it0

Did you have to install a driver for the card? Did you install the correct driver - perhaps you installed a USB only driver?Charlie0

Followed the instructions to the letter and never mentioned anything about a power supply.

Yeah, I installed the driver supplied with the card - I can only assume that they dirver they supply is for both USB and firewire.
I have tried going onto the manufacturer's site to get an updated driver but the site is next to useless.

How do you know the firewire ports aren't working? If it's because you've tried it with a firewire device, are you sure the device's drivers are installed properly?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Right click, Properties on the 1394 host controller in Device Manager. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
