Help please: fitted firewire/USB card and it only part works...

Hello All,

I wonder if someone could help me with this?

I recently fitted a firewire/USB card into my PC.

During the installation process, I seem to have messed up somehow as the USB ports are working ok but NOT the firewire ports (and the firwire facility is the reason why i fitted it!)

I think I may have switched off the firewire ports but don't know how to switch them back on.

Could someone help?

Cheers

Whats it say in Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager?

There should be an entry like "IEEE 1394", or similar.

Did you have to install a driver for the card? Did you install the correct driver - perhaps you installed a USB only driver?

Followed the instructions to the letter and never mentioned anything about a power supply.

Yeah, I installed the driver supplied with the card - I can only assume that they dirver they supply is for both USB and firewire.

I have tried going onto the manufacturer's site to get an updated driver but the site is next to useless.:mad:

How do you know the firewire ports aren't working? If it's because you've tried it with a firewire device, are you sure the device's drivers are installed properly?

Right click, Properties on the 1394 host controller in Device Manager.
