Credit owed from Sky

Hi. Im in credit with Sky and they owe me £24 after I cancelled my broadband last month. From memory they pay you by cheque but can anyone verify their procedure for this type of thing. They are a clownshow at the moment due to the customer services having been moved to India. More importantly is the process automatic? Many thanks for any help or advice provided.

Hi. I cancelled my broadband and it finished on 6th March. They still took a direct debit on 11th March for the full month amount. They issued a final bill on 28th March which showed they owed me the full month (£25) and an extra £5 for the days between 6th March and 11th March.

I received the £30 today into my direct debit bank account. I didn't have to chase them at all.

Important bit here is not to cancel any direct debit until a couple of billing cycles have run.

Phone them up and say that you wish to register a complaint about the length of time that your refund is taking. Never get angry, just keep calm and be polite. Don't be fobbed off.

If like me you get fed up with speaking to people who you cannot understand and you have to keep asking them to repeat what they are saying. Inform them that you wish to speak to someone in the UK and that English is their first language.

If they say that you have to have a Direct Debit in place for a refund, you don't. One has nothing to do with the other.

If they say it takes 5 days for a refund, demand to speak to someone who can make the payment today.

The last time I made a complaint to Sky, I informed them that I was not interested in a resolution, I just wanted a deadlock letter and I was going to take the complaint to CISAS. That seemed to get the ball rolling and brought about a financial resolution that I was happy with.

For me, it wasn't worth my time chasing them and was a lot easier to just let them follow their own processes.

If I hadn't received anything within a month then I would contact them but I certainly wouldn't waste so much time contacting them before then.
