When you leave your Broadband provider

I seem to be getting bombarded with messages asking me to contact the provider I'm leaving since I put the request into my new provider last week. Due to my job Im rarely able to pick up calls anyway and don't want to if they come from numbers unrecognised or seen as spam calls. I just checked my messages and my provider is aware I'm leaving and wants to check some details with me. I thought all this was dealt with by the new provider ? Or is this just to try to get me not to leave?

Who are the providers in question?

I've transitioned a fair few times (TalkTalk, Shell Broadband, Sky, Vodafone) and I don't think I was ever contacted after doing the switch, except a courtesy letter with the details.

Could it be that you are still in contract?

    Know what you don't

If you switch using OTS ( one touch switching ) you are supposed to get an impact statement from the losing provider , basically it outlines the ‘cost’ of leaving , this obviously can vary depending on if you are within a minimum term , owe them the the cost of equipment unless you return it or deferred connection costs etc , but they don’t normally call you about this , it’s an email , text or whatever, but there is nothing stopping them contacting you to discuss your move ( and potentially offer a deal to stay ) but you are not obliged to answer their calls if you don’t want to , just continue to ignore them if that’s what you want, once your switch is done , unless you owe them money , the calls will probably stop.

In one of your other two threads regarding your BB (you can use just the one you know) you state that you THINK you're out of contract with TalkTalk. Did you confirm that as it could become a problem if not.

I had exactly what @iniltous described last week.

No calls just an explanation, including how to organise a refund of any monies owed to me.

Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

Yes. When I applied to the new provider they contacted the old one and it came up on my talk talk email that there would be £0.00 charge for leaving. Looks like I just have to post the router back to them

Talk Talk kept trying to contact me to discuss when I moved to Plusnet very recently. Left voicemails galore (OK I exaggerate maybe 3-4). I was well out of contract with them. Still not refunded me the part month owed from a Final Bill.

That's good , maybe go into your TalkTalk account and find the contact preferences then. They'll only contact you regarding account changes such as refunds or the return of the router.
